Origins of Inspiration: From Conception to Action – Part 3

Following the revelations of the “The Change I Want to See” project, I launched a new round of research: “WHAT-WHY-HOW-WHAT IF”. This project is a synthesis and in-depth analysis of the results of all my past studies and research.

Deepening the Research Question – Empowerment and Confidence

Through a comprehensive review of existing research, I realised that what I really wanted to explore was the issue of women’s empowerment, particularly in terms of improving body image and self-confidence. This led me to construct a second “How can” question: “How can empowerment strategies help Chinese women improve their body image and self-confidence?” Experiment and Practice – Living Room Workshop.

Experimentation and Practice – Living Room Seminars and Workshops

In response to this research question, I organised a special living room seminar and workshop. I invited six Chinese women from different backgrounds and set up the living room as a small exhibition space with an artistic atmosphere. In order to make the results of the project more vivid and direct, I used a series of pictures to present my thinking process and final conclusions. This way of presenting is not only more visually appealing, but also more likely to trigger people’s emotional resonance.

Upgrading Thinking Models – Completeness and Diversity

This project has been of great significance to my personal growth. It has not only given me a deeper understanding of the research topic, but also enriched and refined my personal thinking model. Now, this model is more comprehensive, more logically rigorous, and with a broader perspective.

In this post, we will further explore the project’s progression from an initial question to a multifaceted study.

The Evolving Question: Learning to Use Bodies

During the ‘The Box of Uncertainties’ project, I was prompted to consider a key question: How do people learn to use their bodies? This question became clearer as further research was carried out.

The Research: Who Determines the Ideal Body?

In my research on body image, I paid special attention to a sub-question: Who determines the ideal body? This question is not only related to culture and social practices, but also to individual psychology and self-perception.

A Crisis of Confidence

Based on the results of my research, I came to a worrying conclusion that people have low confidence in themselves because of their body. This conclusion prompted me to delve deeper into the theory of Body Capital.

This deeper understanding made me realise that Body Capital is not just superficial but is a multi-layered and multi-dimensional concept. It made me realise that by making women more accepting of their bodies and less concerned with external judgement, we can potentially address this crisis of confidence on a deeper level.

Beyond Appearance Anxiety

In the ‘The Change I Want to See’ project, I concluded that making women more accepting of their bodies and less concerned about external comments. However, during my presentation at Dragon Den, I encountered a problem. However, during my presentation at Dragon Den, I encountered a problem: the audience tended to interpret my research as a project solely about appearance anxiety. This made me think further about how to more accurately express and articulate my research ideas.

In the meantime, I have edited a pamphlet to present my ideas.

Origins of Inspiration: From Conception to Action – Part 1

Here I will explore the early stages of the project from conceptualisation to action. This post will focus on how the project started with a simple point of interest – ‘fashion and body’ – and evolved into a more complex, multi-dimensional study.

The Spark: An Interest in “Fashion and Body”

It all started as a simple interest in “fashion and body”. This topic, with its infinite possibilities and uncertainties, raises a series of questions that go from the superficial to the profound. This is the same uncertainty I present in “The Box of Uncertainties”.

Developing Questions: The Journey from Curiosity to Inquiry

As my interest in the topic continued, I began to ask specific questions to explore the subject in more depth. These questions not only expressed my understanding of the complexity of ‘fashion and body’, but also formed the basis of the early research for the project.

Early Experiments: A Leap into the Unknown

In the second phase, through a series of mini-interviews and preliminary tests, I eventually came up with the first ‘How can’ question. This question not only provided direction for the project’s subsequent development, but also marked an important transition from theory to practice.
